Dear Brother Knights:
It is with keen excitement, enthusiasm and humility, that as of July 1, 2008; I have the honor of becoming this Council’s Grand Knight.
I am humbled because I follow the lead of Anthony Marengo, the immediate Past Grand Night, who has enlivened our Council. I am also honored to have James Garvey, also a Past Grand Knight, volunteer to assist me as our Deputy Grand Knight. I know that both of these brothers will provide great guidance for our Council.
During this upcoming Columbian year, I am setting goals for our Council that include increasing membership, focusing our efforts in this area on “younger men”, to increasing awareness of Father McGivney and his role in our present age; a greater emphasis in our Council on parochial services; fostering a closer working relationship with the parish’s priests. I anticipate greater involvement in the youth programs of the parish, especially the scouting programs and its religious aspects; a closer relationship with Altar Services and the elementary schools in the parish, including implementation of a greater awareness, of Knights of Columbus Scholarship programs.
I anticipate continued emphasis in our “Keep Christ in Christmas” program; and in a new effort in patriotism to honor service men and women for their contributions to our country, in a non-partisan fashion.
All of our year programs will be grounded in charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.
I will engage my best efforts to lead these programs and ask for your faithful support in these endeavors; and all Council affairs.
Faithfully yours,
Vivat Jesu
Edwin F. Lambert, Jr.
